Aqua Luna Red Sail Junk Boat Hong Kong

 In Cityscapes, Travelscapes

This is a shot taken of a famous junk boat at the Victoria Harbour overlooking the beautiful skyline of Hong Kong. I will be returning for a visit to Hong Kong this weekend. These few days will be all about doing the research and planning for the itinerary. As I like to travel light, the hardest thing for me is to choose what gear to bring so that I can maximize my photo opportunities. Even with compact mirrorless cameras today, lenses can still be pretty heavy.

This trip will be a little different since my little child will be tagging along. On top of my gear, I will also have to haul all the baby stuff. My previous visits were all about hanging out in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. This time round we will be getting away from the bustling city and retreat to the more quiet areas of Lantau Island and Discovery Bay. Hopefully I can bring back some scenic shots for you here on the blog.

Sometimes the nature of being an artist can be quite the solo adventure. Spending most of my time editing in the studio and preferring to explore and shoot alone can at times make me feel like I am the only one alive in the world. Although my family balances that out for me, I do feel the need to connect to someone sometimes. A friend once told me that no man is an island, so for you creatives out there try not to forget your friends and loved ones. Imagine what is the point of achieving everything when you are all alone in the world.

People come and go in your life, that is just the nature of things. The key is to treasure them when your paths are still crossed. Sometimes that crossed path will only happen once and it might also be brief.

You can love, you can hate but don’t ever regret meeting that someone. It is all a part of the journey in life. A world where you have everything else and no one by your side is a tragedy. A life like this loses all its meaning simply because things are dead and people are alive. At the core of all our striving is the hope that we can provide something to the ones we love. It might seem like everyone is selfish but underneath all that selfishness is also the desire to provide and to give to someone else. It’s just that you cannot give what you don’t have.

That someone whom you might think is selfish will always a story behind his or her intentions. We sometimes jump to conclusions and judge too fast. In that judging we will always fail to see things for what it is and we miss all the wonderful relationships that could have been.
