Portrait of a Goeldi’s Marmoset

 In Fauna

My first meeting with a Goeldi’s Marmoset. These are some small and charming little primates, their body length is only about 8 to 9 inches long. These New World monkeys are listed as vulnerable species by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. There is reason to believe this species will decline by at least 30% over the coming 18 years due primarily to habitat loss.

The weather was strange when I took this photo last week. One minute it was blazingly hot, the other minute it was raining. Then it ended up with a bright sunny day with rain. Nevertheless, it reminds me that taking pictures are not always as easy as it seems.
