Portrait of an African Sacred Ibis

 In Birds

I found it fascinating that every living species in the world have their own story. The sacred ibis is such a bird that is tied to ancient Egyptian history and mythology. It is said that millions of ibises were mummified and buried to honor the Egyptian god Thoth (the god of wisdom, learning and magic). Thoth himself is often depicted as a god with the body of a man and the head of an ibis.

Despite heavily linked to ancient Egyptian culture, the general consensus is that the sacred ibis is now extinct in modern Egypt. There has been intentions by cultural preservationists to re-introduce the African sacred ibis back to Egypt.

If every living being have their own story, each of us also has our own unique story that can never be replicated. Have you ever been in love with someone and wished that the relationship is a little more perfect? That perfection is an illusion. Most probably the idea of a perfect love is picked up from some impressions gathered from the movies or some people’s imagination. You hope that your partner is like this or that, all the while you stay the same yourself.

The idea of trying to replicate your relationship with a perfect concept of what it should be like is the greatest hindrance to a true kind of loveā€”the unique imperfect love.

As humans, we are all flawed, that is how we grow and strengthen ourselves and our experiences. Every relationship is bound to be imperfect. In that imperfection, uniqueness is found. If every relationship is perfect and follows a certain pattern or idea of perfection, it would all be the same.

What you ought to do is to rejoice in the unique relationship you have with someone simply because it can never be replicated nor imitated.

It is a one kind of love that is uniquely yours.
