Fauna | Pondering of the Japanese Macaque
“Monkeys are superior to men in this: when a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey.”
Malcolm de Chazal
The Japanese Macaque also known as the snow monkeys, are one of the most beautiful monkey species I have seen. It might be due to the red face making them seemed like they are wearing a mask. They are terrestrial Old World monkey species and they live in snow climate which covers the ground for months each year. It is interesting that nature created them in such a way that their brown-grey fur compliments the snow and yet that red face makes them stand out from their surroundings.
