Macro Forest of White Succulents
Have you ever looked into the miniature world of plants? I am still amazed at what I find peering into the flora world through a macro lens. There are so many strange and beautiful landscapes that you don’t normally see with your naked eye. Just like these white succulents I photographed a while back, it looks like a magical forest on some foreign planet.
“As a lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled, so I, born in the world, raised in the world having overcome the world, live unsoiled by the world.”
One of the hardest things to do, to live unsoiled by the world. It is difficult because we depend so much on the mind to interpret the world. The way the mind does that is through words. Since words are everything we know, we begin to take words seriously. The things people tell us and also the things we tell ourselves become all that we care about. This seriousness towards words makes it impossible to live unsoiled by the world.
Words are like clouds in the sky. They change and they come and go. It is part of the sky but it is never the sky. The sky is always above the clouds and it never gets affected by the commotion happening below.
Be like the sky. If insults are hurled your way, they are like someone spitting towards the sky. Eventually, the spit falls back on them and the sky remains untouched. It only affects you if you accept their gifts of insult, in that case, you cannot blame them. It is your responsibility that you are hurt because you have accepted their gift.
A gift not accepted always remains with the owner.
