Portrait of a Bearded Barbet

 In Birds

I have tried to get a good frame of this bearded barbet for a long time. All these years doing photography, I still find bird photography to be the most challenging. In most occasions you only have seconds of reaction time to get a good frame. For taking tight frames, like I usually do with my animal portraits, it gets even harder. Most of the birds like to perch high up in the cover of the trees.

In this case, these bearded barbets were hard to spot and the few times I managed to see them, they were like way up high in the trees. As I was about to give up, this little cutie jumped out of the bushes and gave me less than two seconds of his time.
