Psychopsis Mariposa Hybrid Orchid
If there is something more exciting than finding animals or birds I have not seen before, it would be finding rare plants. Although I always find it difficult to remember the names of plants, discovering this Psychopsis Mariposa Hybrid Orchid is such a joy.
A plant’s life is pretty straightforward. They sprout, grow, bloom and wither. If they go through the process without any hiccups, I guess we could call it a life well-lived. They have fulfilled their purpose, however big or small their purpose is. They don’t even know what they look like nor what type of flowers they are. Those label comes from us. Beauty makes no sense to them whatsoever. They are what they are and they do what they do.
We are more complicated, so complicated that we can’t figure out what is a well-lived life. It is easy to understand why because we all have different desires. Without common goals, there are no standards for a well-lived life. There are no definite instructions to follow. Attaining to the desires is our condition for success and we hope that after acquiring that success, we can tell ourselves that our lives are fruitful. Then again, desires never truly end and the cycle repeats itself.
What if we can simplify, like all other living species? Will we discover our true purpose then?
Having no set rules is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that we are free to discover our purpose in any way we choose. The curse is that we get lost easily because of all the freedom and we might just end up where we started. However, where is all the fun if there are set rules to follow?
This freedom is a great gift. Anything can happen in life, most of the time in ways unimaginable. Cherish this freedom because nothing is written in stone. There is no guarantee to anything. You can do anything you want if you can accept the consequences.
If there is only one thing we can be totally sure of, it is that all things shall pass and the fate at the end will be the same for all of us.
Since we are free to discover our purpose in any way we can, we owe it to ourselves to live a life that is…well-lived.
